Confidence And unity

Malta Independent Wednesday, 14 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Maltese people know that the coming general election is going to be a historic one. It will bring the change that the many are craving.

In the last couple of years under the present leadership and administration the Labour Party has been more confident, more determined and more united than ever before. Nonetheless, this confidence and determination did not come just from the top but from the whole Labour team. We are all aware of the achievements that Labour’s MEPs are getting for our country. We can all distinguish between a local council led by a Labour majority and one led by any other party. Since 2003 the Labour Party has been elected year after year by the absolute majority of the Maltese on local, regional and national level.

What the people want is a Prime Minister who listens and gets on with his job so they and their family can get on with their lives. Thus at the next general election the Maltese people have a clear choice about who will lead our country. Backing weak and tired ministers is not a qualification to run the country.

If the cost of living has sky-rocketed, if the Maltese families cannot make ends meet, if our country is at the bottom of the list among EU member states in the educational and the competitiveness sector just to mention a few, then you want people who can sort all this out, people you can trust. You need Dr Alfred Sant and his new Cabinet. You need the Labour team.
