Heritage Malta will be continuing the series of thematic heritage trails that have proved to be successful since their launch in 2006. These Heritage Trails focus specifically on a particular theme linked to Malta’s culture and history. Attendance is limited and this gives the opportunity to participants to interact.
Heritage Malta is launching the next series of Heritage Trails which covers a 10-month period from December 2007 to September 2008.
The first trail in the series, entitled The Nativity in Art Heritage, will take place on 15 December and will include a visit to the National Museum of Fine Arts and a visit to traditional cribs.
Another Heritage Trail in the series will be “State Palaces” to be held in February 2008. This trail will include visits to the Palace State Rooms in Valletta, San Anton Palace in Attard and Verdala Palace in Rabat.
This will be one of the rare opportunities for members of the public to gain an insight in these presidential palaces which are not usually open for visits to the public.
“Early Man Heritage Trail” in April 2008 will be visiting Ghar Dalam Cave and Museum and the Skorba Megalithic Temples in Mgarr.
In June 2008, the heritage trail will focus on the reign of Grand Master Wignacourt while in September the Trail will focus on the Great Siege and the Knights of St John and will include a visit to the Palace Armoury and Fort St Angelo.
Heritage Malta is introducing the concept of a block ticket for these five heritage trails which will sell for Lm23.18 (Euros 54) instead of the normal price of Lm28.33 (Euro 65.99). Participation is subject to booking as places are limited. Further information can be obtained by calling Heritage Malta on 22954312 or 22954307.
