HMS ‘Chatham’ To visit Malta

Malta Independent Saturday, 17 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Royal Navy ship HMS Chatham will pay an informal visit to Malta between tomorrow and Wednesday. She is under Commander Martin Connell. The Chatham is a Type 22 Frigate, and is the fourth and last of the Batch 3 frigates. Her visit to Malta comes after a period exercising in the Adriatic, together with fellow Royal Navy ships and the Croatian Navy.

Launched in 1988, HMS Chatham is the seventh ship to bear the name and has battle honours from Quiberon Bay in 1759 and the Dardanelles from 1915 to 1916.

HMS Chatham will be berthed at Pinto Wharf. While the ship will not be open to the public during her stay, the Commanding Officer has invited both Sea and Officer Cadets for a guided tour.
