The costly Mtarfa by-pass has been in the news quite often, especially because it took so long to be built - about seven years. But in all the cost over-runs and the long duration of the works to complete it, one thing was still left out. It has no lights and is completely in the dark. Is that to prevent light pollution, or did someone forget to provide lighting?
How many times have you been stuck in traffic waiting patiently, in the correct lane, only to see some roadhog run a red light, or use the wrong lane in full view of a warden or traffic cop only for their infraction to be completely ignored. This is wrong and frustrating. People should be penalised for breaching road regulations.
On the same note, apply the same concept and replace roadhog with wardens in a car or police officers who simply flout the laws. It’s a lot commoner than people might care to think.
Unlucky for Malta in Greece on Saturday, but by all accounts the boys deserve praise for a gutsy performance. They played well as a unit in the first half, shutting out the European Champions, but a second half collapse saw us go down 5-0. As we have said time and time again, it’s all about the commitment and Malta continued to press for a consolation goal. Better luck next time lads. You gave us a lot of highs during this qualifying campaign.
Well done to the Mater Dei migration team. Some hiccups were obviously to be expected, and they did happen. But by and large, the migration process went to plan without major issues. The only giveaway was the odd motorcade from St Luke’s to the new hospital. Well done, it was a lot less painful than we had thought it would be.
For all the hoo and ha that came as a result of the new regulations in regard to ‘bottle shops’ – it seems that the momentum has totally fallen flat. Walk through Paceville and count the amount of vendors pedalling their wares to underage drinkers. The results might baffle you. Enforcement? What enforcement?
A lot of roads in urban areas around Malta are in need of attention. This especially holds true after heavy rains. Bits of the tarmac surface literally come off and pose a danger to motorists. The same holds true for some arterial roads that have not yet received attention. One which is in a dire state is the one leading from San Gwann to Naxxar. It’s an absolute mess and befitting a third world country never mind a national that is going through a boom.
Why are shop attendants so rude in Malta? People not even looking at you when they are serving, or looking right through you to talk to a workmate while you wait at the till. Worse yet are those who talk on their mobile phone about what colour they are painting their nails for their Friday night out. Come on, it’s just not on.
