Malta champion Alex Borg may probably be on his way out of the amateur world championship in Thailand, but he has registered the highest break in the tournament so far in these qualifying rounds – a highly impressive 140.

Despite facing probable elimination, Borg has had quite a number of good breaks in the matches he has played. These included 90, 74, 63, 62 and 50.

However, he was still occupying sixth place in the Group C standings yesterday with just two matches to be played.

Meanwhile Simon Zammit suffered another setback when he lost a crucial match against Mohammed Saleh of Pakistan 4-3. Zammit is occupying sixth place in Group D following this defeat and is also facing elimination with just two matches to go for the end of the qualifying round.
