A 27-year-old Syrian yesterday pleaded guilty to bigamy and was jailed for two years suspended for four.

Jamal Abdullah, who resides in Rabat, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Saviour Demicoli to marrying a Maltese woman even though he was legally married to a woman from Syria, who the court heard also resides in Malta.

Police Inspector Mario Haber led the prosecution while the accused was assisted by Dr Mariella Said and Dr Leslie Cuschieri.
