Malta Independent Friday, 23 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

A delegation of the Saudi Arabian Majlis-ash-Shura, headed by Sadakah Yahia Fadil, on 19 November paid a courtesy visit to the International Maritime Law Institute. They were welcomed by the director, Prof. David Attard, who introduced students of IMLI class 2007-2008.

Prof. Attard recalled that eight lawyers from Saudi Arabia were trained at IMLI and obtained IMLI’s LL.M. Degree in international maritime law. He explained to the delegation the role of IMLI in the training of international maritime law and spoke of the importance IMLI gives to legislation drafting, particularly with respect to the incorporation of international treaties into domestic law.

Dr. Fadil thanked Professor Attard and the students for their welcome and undertook to examine the possibility of closer relations with IMLI.
