The third Performers Platform Concert in the series of Valletta Lunchtime Concerts is a Violin and Piano recital. It features violinist Jessica Sant, accompanied on the piano by Alex Vella Gregory. The concert, organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, will take place next Friday 30 November at the Music Room, St James Cavalier in Valletta. During this concert works by Bartok, Wieniawski and Beethoven will be played.
Ms Sant was a member of the Henri Touzeau String Ensemble (part of the Melbourne Youth Music programme). Apart from performing with several ensembles in Malta, Jessica has also occasionally appeared with the National Orchestra during the past two years. She is a founding member of a string quartet formed by four promising Maltese string musicians interested in chamber music. Jessica has successfully completed Part I (theory) of the ALCM diploma.
Mr Vella Gregory obtained a diploma as an Associate of the London College of Music (ALCM). In 2002, he won the Ian Tomlin Napier/Malta Music Scholarship in Edinburgh, which enabled him to pursue a B.Mus (Hons) degree in composition, in which he successfully graduated with honours. Alex has performed in concerts both locally and abroad.
