Siggiewi-Zebbug R 0-3

Zebbug created the first goal scoring opportunity with the Zebbug midfield player George Saliba however failing to take advantage of an indecision by a Siggiewi defender as he blasted the ball high over the bar when all alone in front of Camilleri.

Siggiewi then gained a free-kick which was taken by Jason Camilleri and saved by the Zebbug keeper Martin Pace the latter again coming to his side’s rescue in the 33rd minute with a fine save off a shot by Eman Ciappara.

A minute before the break Siggiewi were again close through Jason Camilleri.

Early on during the second half Siggiewi went close through Jason Camilleri and debutant Stephen Said but it was Zebbug who broke the deadlock on 58 minutes with George Saliba crossing from the right flank and Jeremy Gatt headed in past Camilleri.

Then Zebbug were denied by Camilleri off a shot by Gordon Mallia but they managed to increase their lead in the 68th minute through a penalty given for a foul on Julian Camilleri and converted by George Saliba.

In the 73rd minute Zebbug increased further their lead through Keith Farrugia and in the 89th minute both teams ended up with ten players as Josef Micallef (Siggiewi) and Edgar Degabriele (Zebbug Rangers) were sent off following an off the ball argument.

Mtarfa-Ghaxaq 0-4

Ghaxaq dictated the run of play during the first part of the match and on 15 minutes Bjorn Dalli shot at goal with the Mtarfa custodian bring off a fine save.

Eight minutes later Francois Galea hit just wide and then Albert Caruana hit high over the bar from the edge of the penalty area.

In the 42nd minute the post denied Ghaxaq off a shot by Kevin Gambin and the same player had an effort which was blocked on the goal line.

Ghaxaq took the lead through Bjorn Dalli on 63 minutes with Mtarfa coming back through Owen Dimech whose attempt was saved by Celeste.

Ghaxaq increased their lead in the 74th minute through Bjorn Dalli and five minutes later Dalli notched his personal hat-trick. In the 85th minute Ghaxaq made it a 4-0 final scoreline through Kevin Gambin.

Attard-Mdina K 0-3

Attard had a strong start and after three minutes a shot by Elon Cassar hit the upright and in the 7th minute Fabian Cutajar hit just wide.

On 13 minutes Mdina took the lead as Nicky Micallef’s free-kick was headed in by Ian Sammut.

In the 18th minute Attard hit the crossbar through Floyd Farrugia’s header from a Firas corner-kick and at the other end Mdina went close through Ian Sammut and Ayrton Buhagiar.

In the 38th minute the Attard custodian brought off a fine save off a shot by Nicky Micallef with Attard responding through dangerous attempts by Clive Lanzon and Fabian Cutajar.

However it was Mdina who managed to score again in the 45th minute through Roderick Schembri and nine minutes into the second half they further increased their lead with Ian Sammut doing all the work which was finished off by Ayrton Buhagiar.

On the hour Attard suffered yet another setback as Yan Grech was given marching orders after he had been booked for a second time. Late in the match Mdina were close through Roderick Schembri and Nicky Micallef with Attard having a Fabian Cutajar shot which was saved by Sciberras.

Gzira-St Lucia 2-1

After only six minutes Gzira wasted a clear opportunity through Alex Marmara with the Saints responding through Charles Agius who shot just wide from close-range.

Then the Saints were denied by the Gzira goalkeeper off efforts by Antoine Sapiano and Roderick Mangion and at the other end James Tabone crossed from the right flank and Aldrin Muscat headed just over the bar.

In the 44th minute the Saints forged ahead with Antoine Sapiano squaring the ball towards Charles Agius who hit home with an angled shot.

Gzira’s reaction produced a merited equaliser in the 50th minute scored by James Tabone and seconds later they even took the lead through Owen Spiteri.

The Saints came back through Roderick Mangion who hit just wide from the edge of the penalty area. Late in the match Gzira wasted an easy opportunity through Justin Felice with the Saints hitting the post through an Aaron Sciortino header.
