Palestinian Ordered to stay at Hal Far centre

A Palestinian man was yesterday charged with attempting to break into a car and steal from it.

Ahmed Abdalla Yakoup, 20, was charged with attempting to break into a car in Valletta at 11.45am on 27 November. He was also accused of causing between Lm100 and Lm1,000 in damage to the car.

The court heard that the accused has a drug problem and was housed at the Hal Far open centre.

The court granted bail against a deposit of Lm200 and a personal guarantee of Lm1,000. He was also ordered to remain within the confines of the centre in Hal Far for the duration of the case.

Police inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted while Dr Mark Busuttil appeared for the accused.
