Woman Charged with fraud

A woman was yesterday charged with stealing cheque books and using them to commit fraud.

Alexia Cross, 28, who is currently an inmate at the Corradino Correctional Facility, pleaded not guilty to defrauding Bank of Valletta, Ray’s Garage and Lewis Jewellery out of more than Lm1,000.

She also pleaded not guilty to stealing cheque books and knowingly making use of them. The accused was also charged with committing a crime while under the operative period of a probation term.

Police inspector Ian Abdilla prosecuted while Dr Veronique Dalli appeared for the accused.
