Robert Galea has been studying for the priesthood for the last 5 years. Following the success of his debut album Closer, Robert Galea, the “singing seminarian” is about to release his second project. This CD is the fruit of several years of soul-searching and months of hard work in the studio. Recording began in Melbourne, Australia and continued here in Malta. This project is unlike anything Robert has done before, and unlike any Maltese artist has tried before. It is a raw, unplugged album – a simple but loud cry from a heart that recognises it cannot stand alone. The “mission statement” on the inside cover of the album reads “this is a declaration of my weakness and a celebration of the One I will one day love completely… and What a Day that will be!”
This 13 track album entitled What a Day will appeal to all ages and all levels of faith, even if to the non-existent. It will be especially appreciated by those who like singers such as Cat Stevens, Jack Johnson and Damien Rice.
What a Day also includes a track in Maltese, one in Italian and a song which Robert has been asked to sing in front of the Pope in July 2008 at the World Youth Day celebrations in Sydney. Robert will interpret his song At the foot of the Cross under the Sydney Harbour Bridge in front of over half a million young pilgrims from around the world and live TV. “This song is about being accepted. The lyrics tell the world, me included, that whoever you are, whatever you have done, or whatever your convictions are, there is room for you at the foot of the Cross, the place where love is purest and most giving”. Robert also sings and appears in the music video with Australian Pop Idol Guy Sebastian on the recording of the official International World Youth Day song.
