I refer to the letter Pharmacy scheme (TMID, 27 November).

At the moment patients on schedule V (yellow form), diabetics and patients on Schedule II (pink form) receiving medicinals for chronic diseases are registering with the Pharmacy of Your Choice (POYC) scheme.

Schedule II clients are also entitled to one-off medicinals such as antibiotics when needed. For the moment, due to logistical purposes, such one-off prescription will only be catered for by the Health Centres’ pharmacies. In due course, even such entitlements will be dispensed from the private pharmacies under the POYC scheme.
