Maltese striker Michael Mifsud is set to make a welcome return to Coventry City’s line-up as they try to turn their slump in fortunes round at The Hawthorns tonight.

The Sky Blues star striker returns from a three-match ban to face West Bromwich Albion.

It was against the Baggies whom he got sent off for elbowing in his last appearance, resulting in his teammates being thumped 4-0 with 10 men.

And, after Coventry have failed to score a single goal from open play in his absence, the club’s leading scorer is desperately needed back in the side.

“Michael will be champing at the bit to get back in,” said manager Iain Dowie, who hopes the little front man will want to right his wrong against the Baggies, by showing them what he can do with the ball.

“He’s been working hard in training and you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to work out that he will be right back in contention because he just gives us something different.”

And his team-mates are also looking forward to having him back in the side.

“It will be good to have Michael back,” said winger Ellery Cairo.

“If you look at the stats we have scored once, and that was a penalty, since he has been out of the team so I am looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch.

“When we get a goal from open play I think that will help the team and the self confidence.”

Defender Gary Borrowdale concurred: “I think he will give everyone a little boost.

“He is raring to go and he has been sharp in training.

“He was flying before and hopefully he will get back to that same sort of form.”
