An 18 year old youth from Luqa was yesterday placed under house arrest, after he pleaded guilty to defiling a minor under the age of twelve during, and prior to, the year 2004.
The man, whose name cannot be published by order of the court, also pleaded guilty to aiding in the corruption of a minor, who happens to be his niece.
The case took place in Albert Town, Marsa, when the accused was 15 years old.
Magistrate Anthony Vella placed the young man under house arrest against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000, and requested a pre-sentencing report before passing judgement.
The girl’s father, who is the accused’s brother, is currently being held in custody awaiting criminal procedures on similar charges, which he had always denied.
Police inspector Raymond Aquilina prosecuted while Dr Joe Brincat was defence counsel.
