The Family and Social Solidarity Ministry said families which at present do not receive a children's allowance may apply on the new application form, which may be obtained from the district offices of the Social Security Division, or online at www.mfss.gov.mt or by phoning the SPIC on 159.

Applications will be received over the coming months but families that can apply now, are urged to do so as soon as possible.

Under the budget provisions for 2008, every child under 16 years is now entitled to a children's allowance, irrespective of the family's income.
