Memorable Day for APS Bank

Malta Independent Friday, 7 December 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

APS Bank is proud and honoured that last Thursday 29th of November it contributed in a meaningful way to Malta’s cultural scenario, both in the musical and literary scenes.

At the St. John’s Co-Cathedral, the Bank’s flagship annual concert provided an exceptional musical experience. This concert was dedicated to a Messa Solenne by the composer Pietro Paola Bugeja (1772-1828). Soloists, musicians and a highly able choir made this particular concert a memorable occasion appreciated by music afficionados and the public at large. The event was performed to a packed audience.

At the same time, the bank, as publisher, was awarded a prestigious prize in one of the various literary categories in the National Book Council’s annual awards ceremony. The book entitled ‘Sa Ma Jasal Godot’, translated into Maltese by Dr. Anthony Aquilina from the original French - Samuel Beckett’s ‘En Attendant Godot’, placed first in the drama translations category. The Book is the latest one in the series of works written in Maltese and published by the Bank under the Fond ghall-Kittieba tal-Malti. This fund provides financial assistance to help Maltese authors to publish their works. The ‘Akkademja tal-Malti’ cooperates by providing advice on the technical aspects and literary values of the works presented for such sponsorship.
