Two robberies took place yesterday, police said.

An armed and hooded man burst into a jewellery shop in St Lucia Street, Valletta, yesterday evening, and demanded the man behind the counter to hand over the items in front of him, police said. The 33-year-old shop-keeper, who is from San Gwann, was with a female employee when the robbery took place at around 6.30pm. No-one was injured during the robbery.

Duty magistrate Dr P. Grima, who was informed about the case, appointed various experts to conduct an onsite inquiry. Police investigations are still under way.

In the second robbery, two armed and hooded men held up an “amusement” outlet in Ponsombi Street, Gzira at around 9.30pm. The men got away with less than Lm300 in cash. No-one was injured in the robbery.

Duty magistrate Dr J. Padovani was informed about the case and appointed various experts to help conduct an inquiry. Police said investigations are still under way.
