The BOV Premier League continues this week-end with two big matches scheduled for this afternoon.

In the first match Birkirkara face Hibernians, whilst in the second match rivals Floriana and Valletta face each other in the most expected match in the programme.

Valletta will be eager to cancel their first round defeat against their neighbours. Both sides had different fortunes so far this season with Floriana having a great start after beating Valletta in their opener.

The Greens had a brilliant first round, enjoying the leadership for a long spell. Floriana struggled a bit in their last two outings even suffering a defeat against Birkirkara.

On the contrary Valletta, considered my many as great favourites to clinch the title, had a disappointing start, with some poor showings and results. However they came back to life winning their last two matches against Birkirkara, and last Saturday’s demolishing of League Champions Marsaxlokk, were the Citizens scored seven goals.

Argentine striker Monesterolo came back in form with a bang scoring a poker against the champions. A victory for the Citizens this afternoon will put the Lillywhites above their rivals for the first time this season.

However Floriana will have other ideas, as the first round match clearly indicated. As is usual a keenly contested derby is expected this afternoon were a bumper crowd is expected to watch this derby.

In the first match Birkirkara fresh from their victory against Floriana will face Hibernians in another much awaited match. Both sides are in the upper part of the table, in search of points to have their say in the final run for the honours.

In tomorrow’s matches Hamrun Spartans are expected to grab three precious points against bottom placed Mqabba, whilst champions Marsaxlokk still smarting from their drubbing against Valletta, will be facing a rather tricky opponent in Pieta Hotspurs.
