Peter and the Wolf… this year Alegria Academia promises to enthrall their audience with a classic which has a contemporary twist. This is a story narration and dance spectacular to the delightful music of classical music composer, Prokofiev's, most renowned work, Peter and the Wolf.
Nicola Henson has adapted the musical story of Peter and the Wolf to dance, in a delightful interpretation of the tale. With Nicola herself as the wolf, partner, Rosana Maya, as the grandfather, our hero Peter danced by young Mattea Camilleri, Dorcas Camilleri as the Duck, Maria Camilleri as the bird, Elian Scicluna, the cat and all the budding ballerinas of the ballet academy dancing as the hunters, and portraying the meadow, the pond and the flowers, this promises to be a production that will engross the audience from the youngest to the very oldest.
Ms Maya on the other hand is ready to shock the audience and throw some energy out by interpreting Flamenco in the most daring fashion and promises to have the audience grooving in their seats, itching to join in the fun of Flama Flamenco. Of course tradition will also have its way ultimately and the Alegria students will show us how it’s done with all the Flamenco ingredients, attitude and passion in some superb choreography by Francesca Grima (Etnikafe starlet).
Maria Camilleri weaved her magic and great talent and concludes the show with a funky hip-hop number that will set you in the true Alegria mood of good positive dance magic and joy.
