Subscribers to the Sports Channel of Melita Cable and GO are somewhat confused as to which TV supplier has the broadcasting rights for the widely followed Barclays Premier League, the Italian Serie A, both until 2009/10 and the UEFA Champions League until the season of 2008/09.
In a statement issued yesterday, Melita Cable categorically stated that it has all the exclusive rights to broadcast all the above sports events LIVE, while GO has the right to broadcast the Club Channels, which in turn cannot transmit matches LIVE, but can do so a day after the actual match has taken place.
Therefore, the statement added “it’s a simple question of either Live or Recorded transmission”.
Melita Cable has launched two free offers to new and existing clients. Subscribers can now install up to two digital set-top boxes for free throughout December, thus enjoying the widest choice of TV programming available in Malta.
Also during December, all subscribers to the Melita Connect and Family package will be enjoying a month of Melita Movies for free. Existing subscribers to Melita Movies will have their bill reduced accordingly for December.
