Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona paid an official visit to the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) in St Julian’s. The Archbishop was greeted by the chairman of the Board of Governors, Reginald Abela, the members of the board, the administration, academic staff and students.

In a short address to students and staff, Mgr Cremona spoke about instances in the New Testament where food and hospitality are of central importance, such as at the wedding feast at Cana or the Last Supper. He reminded students that Jesus Christ served his disciples, and likewise, those who are in the hospitality sector should be of good service to others, sometimes even without financial reward.

The Archbishop of Malta was shown then around the premises, where he spoke to individual students and members of staff. Later on the Archbishop was taken to lunch at the Pembroke Suite Restaurant as an honoured guest, where ITS students, under the supervision of their tutors, prepared the food and drinks and served them to the guests. The menu was based on Maltese gastronomy and included Fish soup, broth, ricotta and spinach ravioli, rabbit, bragioli, Christmas pudding and mince pies.
