The Malta Labour Party’s Republic Day fundraising campaign saw Lm105,550 being raised for party causes, a spokesman confirmed yesterday. This brought the total collected by the party throughout the year to Lm311,990.

The MLP said that the donations came from far and wide and from all sectors of society. The MLP said that the fundraiser will help in the upcoming election campaign. The activity was kicked off with a speech by Opposition Leader Alfred Sant, flanked by senior party officials at the MLP headquarters in Hamrun.

The event was accompanied by a whole day of activities and entertainment in Malta as well as Gozo.
