New Faces

Malta Independent Saturday, 15 December 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

In your editorial New politics (TMID, 12 December), you briefly analyse the stand that the four political parties are taking and will probably be following in the run-up for the election.

The problem I see is that while I think that the Nationalist Party has run its course in government, the Labour Party is still to prove itself as a valid alternative. Both Alternattiva Demokratika and Azzjoni Nazzjonali are still too politically weak to make any impact.

So there is a great chance that the Nationalists are returned to power once again. What I suggest is that if people are to vote Nationalist again, they should at least try to elect new faces. There are a number of top PN MPs who have not made the grade, or else are past their best-by date, and therefore it is a good opportunity for the people to elect new politicians, while keeping the same party in government.

After all, no-one can deny that the country has moved forward in the past years.
