Climate expert Michael Zammit Cutajar has been elected to top positions in the new negotiating group of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Malta’s ambassador for climate change was elected vice-chairman for 2008 and chairman for 2009 at the end of the UN climate change conference in Bali.
During Republic Day celebrations held last Thursday, Mr Zammit Cutajar was made a member of the National Order of Merit.
Environment Minister George Pullicino congratulated him on his appointment, saying such positions should be a source of satisfaction to the Maltese because it continued to reaffirm Malta’s contribution to the global fight against climate change.
