The Malta Song for Europe 2008 shows were initially scheduled for 21 February (semi-final) and 23 February (final).

However, due to the forthcoming General Election that is expected to be held sometime between February and April, the Malta Song Board has decided to bring the shows forward to 24 January (semi-final) and 26 January (final).

Therefore, the rest of the dates have also been changed: the second live phase will be televised between 9 and 12 January, when the 36 participating songs will be narrowed down to 16.

A spokesman of the Malta Song Board told escmalta.com that the dates are “more then likely to be the final new dates”, although there is no official confirmation yet. It is expected that this confirmation will be made at the end of this week or at the beginning of the next. Some details about the venue might be revealed as well.
