The Malta Union of Teachers yesterday directed all lecturing staff at the Institute of Tourism Studies to work to rule.

The reason given for the industrial action is that of “exaggerated delay in concluding the Revised Collective Agreement which expired on 31 December 2006”. The union had already staged a two-hour strike earlier this month.

All lecturing staff are to refrain from performing any duties in connection with class attendance registers and also to refrain from assisting students in performing cashier duties at all points of sale, including the restaurants.

The MUT said that lecturers should also not hand in first semester examination papers and reserved the right to issue further directives, saying that non-MUT members who decide to adhere to these directives have the union’s full protection.
