A couple who on Monday were found in possession of apparently counterfeit euros had more of the money at their residence, the police said.
The 34-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, both from Sliema, were held by the police after a shopkeeper alerted them about the suspected counterfeit money. The two were found to be in possession of a sum of money not exceeding the equivalent of Lm500.
The police said yesterday that anti-fraud and Sliema district police later also searched the couple’s residence and more of the counterfeit money, not exceeding 600 euros, was found. Police investigations are still under way.
