Man Fined for not presenting documents

A 36-year-old man from Floriana was fined a total of Lm1,950 after he was found guilty of not presenting necessary documentation and not allowing custom inspectors to carry out their duties.

Ivan Hallet was found guilty, before the VAT tribunal presided over by magistrate Doreen Clarke, of not being in possession of the necessary documentation during an inspection carried out by the VAT department inspectors, custom officials and police officers on 24 October at around 11.30pm.

He was also found guilty of giving incorrect information.

Hallet was also found guilty of failing to present the necessary documents and providing the particulars of the people who passed on the merchandise and refusing to open the boxes during an inspection on 25 October.

Magistrate Demicoli found Hallet guilty of all charges and fined him a total of Lm1,950.

Police Inspector Alexander Miruzzi prosecuted.
