According to tradition the Malta Amateur Wrestling Federation celebrated its 39th Anniversary since its foundation in December of 1969 with a dinner during which cups and medals were presented to teams and individual wrestlers.

Prior to the presentations the President of the Federation Simon A. Bonello congratulated those clubs and wrestlers who won season honours and encouraged the athletes to keep on training seriously under the direction of their coaches. Bonello said that next year the federation will celebrate its 40th Anniversary and for the occasion its Council will do its utmost to organize an international tournament according to funds available.

Naxxar Boys Secondary was presented with the National Club Championship Cup and Stella Maris College received the British Airways Youth League Cup. On the other hand Abraham Vassallo of the University of Malta team received the Wrestler of The Year Trophy for the ninth consecutive time. The honour for the Youth Wrestler of the Year this time was shared by two very promising wrestlers namely Adam Vella and Aidan Buhagiar both of the Stella Maris College team thus each got a cup.

National Championship Gold Medalists according to weight categories were Abraham Vassallo, Manuel Cilia, Johan Camilleri, Aidan Buhagiar, Raphael Buttigieg, Damian Buhagiar, Matthew Bonnici, Adam Vella, Benji Micallef, Duncan Farrugia u Gary Giordemaina. Other wrestlers received silver or bronze medals.

The presentations were made by the President of the Malta Amateur Wrestling Federation Simon A. Bonello while Secretary General Pierre Cassar conducted the presentation ceremony.
