The local council of Victoria will be organising carol singing by various choirs today at Independence Square. Furthermore, the Helping Hands Group together with the Gozo Youth Wind Band and Orchestra under the direction of Mro Joseph Grech will present Christmas with the Musicals later at St George’s Square. The local council is also organising a Christmas party for children on 27 December.

On 28 December, the council is holding an International Folk Festival with the participation of around 500 people from various countries as well as two Victoria folk groups: the Astra Folk Group and the Aurora Folk Group. The local council is ending 2007 with a big celebration at Independence Square, which will also serve as a welcome for the euro.

On New Year’s Day there will be a concert by the Gozo Youth Wind Band and Orchestra under the direction of Mro Grech, with excerpts from popular and famous works.
