From Mr J. Borg
I have just read Minister Michael Frendo’s feeble and lame self-exculpation at the lacklustre performance at the Commonwealth Elections for Secretary-General. He claims, in the letter he wrote to your paper, that there is no “regionalism” in the Commonwealth. I was reading Evarist Saliba’s memoirs, No Honourable Minister, and I found an excerpt on page 55 which could perhaps help our Foreign Minister understand international politics: “The African group showed outright hostility and resented that so much time was being taken up by debating membership of European countries rather than development issues. The detached attitude of the Latin Americans was exasperating. The Asians pressed their point with typical Asian persistent patience.”
Fits like a glove, doesn’t it?
