The Education Ministry, on Saturday, signed an agreement with Luxol Sports Club with the aim of developing a piece of land which is part of the existing Pembroke Primary School, known as Bice Mizzi Vassallo School.

The area will be a welcome addition to the club’s existing facilities, as it is earmarked for future sport-related development and projects, in accordance with the Club’s continued policy that highlights the need to continue to improve it’s infrastructure in partnership with the government’s role of providing the land on which these policies may be implemented.

The facilities will also benefit the school, since students will be using the facilities during school hours. The government is building a new primary school in Pembroke for which MEPA has just issued the relative building permits.

Luxol Sports Club currently runs the largest football nursery and academy in Malta, catering for over 550 young people who are between four and 14 years old. In the past two years the club has invested heavily in developing the Club’s infrastructure, with the construction of a small stadium comprising state of the art artificial surfacing and amenities. This pitch is will benefit all the Club’s nursery players and older teams, as well as providing an excellent venue for matches organised by the Youth FA and the Women’s Football National league organised by the Malta Football Association.

The agreement was signed by Francis Borg, Permanent Secretary, on behalf of the Government, and by Norman Darmanin Demajo, CEO, on behalf of LUXOL Sports Club. Under the agreement, LUXOL will be developing the designated area at their own expense. It will be accessible to Pembroke Primary School Children during school hours, and thereafter to LUXOL members and for sport activities and events.
