Gozitan Nurses complain about food

Malta Independent Friday, 28 December 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Nurses and midwives at the Gozo General Hospital are complaining at the food they are served at the hospital, with their union, the MUMN, lodging a protest on their behalf.

The union said that in the last five months servings were of canned beef and fatty ham with hard peas, beans and carrots. The later meal would be made up of overcooked pasta and, very often, tough meat. The chips would have been done in the morning.

In October, the union said, they were told cereals would be bought, as was in fact done, but no cereals were ever served. Had they disappeared, it wondered, calling for a serious inquiry. It warned that if the situation did not improve it would resort to action.
