This past year has been a very positive one for Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) as it managed to conclude tens collective agreements in both the public and private sectors, said union president Gaetano Tanti in his New Year 2008 greetings.
UHM’s efforts included the introduction of a several family friendly policies and new rights for part-time workers, as well as an agreement with the government that provided more than 1,300 jobs in the public sector.
The union’s work has translated into an increased number of new members with UHM, said Mr Tanti, adding that the union has also given a lot of importance to occupational health and safety, which will be one of its main priorities for the coming year, together with the protection of citizens’ standard of living.
