Man Charged with harassing ex-girlfriend remanded in custody

A 33-year-old man was remanded in custody yesterday after pleading not guilty to harassing and threatening his ex-girlfriend.

James Demanuele, from Santa Lucia, also pleaded not guilty to knowingly harassing and causing fear that violence would be used against his ex-girlfriend and their disabled nine-year-old daughter and using obscene words in public on and before Thursday.

Before Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, Mr Demanuele also pleaded not guilty to insulting and threatening a police inspector on Friday, harassing the woman in spite a court order that forbade it and relapsing. Magistrate Mizzi remanded him in custody.

Police Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted while Dr Joseph Brincat appeared for the accused. Dr Nicole Vella appeared parte civile.
