With reference to correspondence appearing in another section of the local press (The Times, 9 November and 30 November), about the approved “Floriana parking scheme”, allow me to say that this correspondence might have contributed to a mistaken impression in the sense that one might have thought that most Floriana (registered) residents, and also, Floriana based businesses and employees, were against the implementation of the scheme as approved by the Malta Transport Authority (ADT).
Nothing could be further from the truth, since many people from all walks of life have shown appreciation for one of the clauses carried in the plan, this being that, whether one is a Floriana resident or not, no one will have to pay a daily entrance fee on entering Floriana (as is already the case in Valletta).
In point of fact, only one resident (out of 2,000 registered Floriana voters), complained that the scheme was not to her liking.
