Roads needing attention after the recent fairly long spell of rain may be reported to the Malta Transport Authority on freephone 8007 2393, the authority said.

It said that a contractor has been enjoined to do all necessary urgent roadworks and temporary repairs have been carried out using instant repair mix asphalt. Work was even carried out as the rain fell.

The authority added that its maintenance unit staff and officials from the roads ministry were going round the island and monitoring the situation to ensure permanent maintenance works.
