Alfred Chircop Exhibits in Gozo

Malta Independent Sunday, 6 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The vernissage of Alfred Chircop’s exhibition was held on 8 December at art..e Gallery in Victoria, Gozo. The exhibition runs until 24 January and features works in watercolours by Chircop which contrast his large works on canvas to which audiences are more accustomed. The artist successfully shows his dexterity at using and mastering different mediums to attain his unparalled paintings. Though watercolours are associated with flimsy, lightweight and near transparent paintings, yet Chircop, by means of this watery medium, succeeds in giving his works an exciting perception, where colours melt and run into each other while at the same time the viewer can discern their different luscious spaces and interlocking bands.

This exhibition is not intended for the faint-hearted viewer, but for discerning art lovers, eager to enjoy true art while endeavouring to weave their way through the chromatic and stimulating labyrinth deftly spun by Alfred Chircop. The gallery is situated at 1, Library Street, Victoria, Gozo and is open Monday to Saturday from 9.15am to 12.15pm. On Fridays the gallery is also open from 5 until 7pm. Private viewing may be arranged by phoning 2155 7911, 9980 4774 or emailing: [email protected].
