Following Cabinet approval of his recommendation, Investment, Industry and Information Technology Minister Austin Gatt, appointed Robert C. Aquilina as non-executive Chairman of Malta Shipyards Limited.
Mr Aquilina is replacing Mr John Cassar White, whose resignation for personal reasons was recently accepted by the Minister.
Robert C. Aquilina received his education at St Aloysius’ College – Birkirkara, and joined the family business shortly thereafter. Here he acquired extensive selling and managerial skills.
Mr Aquilina is the Chairman and CEO of the Salvo Grima Group, which he has effectively headed for most of his adult life, and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
He has served on the council of the International Marine Purchasers’ Association for six years in the capacity of Vice President and, amongst other involvements, is a director of VISET plc.
Mr Aquilina has served on the Boards of the Enemalta Corporation, the Malta Resource Authority and latterly the Malta Shipyards.
