On Saturday the Globalair winter league continued with Marsa C.C playing Krishna Pen and Paper C.C. For Marsa it was a special day for one of their players. Marilyn Camilleri, playing her first competitive game, is the first female to play in a winter league.

Marsa won the toss and elected to field. Krishna were off to a flying start with 14 runs coming off the first over with Mark .G.Sacco dispatching two fours to the cover point boundary.

He retired after 30 balls and later returned and remained not out on 43 balls including four fours.

His opening partner Nowell Khosla also retired on 30 balls scoring 33 runs. Chris Naudi impressed by scoring 31 runs off 21 balls, including a six and two fours. Juniors Adam Krishna and Sanjay Dhandapani made two runs not out and a duck respectively.

Aided with 15 extras the Krishna totalled 132 runs from their allotted overs. For Marsa Mike Caruana took two wickets while Tony Azzopardi and Gordon Hewitt both took a wicket each.

Marsa found the challenge of the run chase to be very difficult with Nowell Khosla bowling one of the best spells taking four wickets for 28 runs from six overs taking the wickets of Javed Shah (one run), John Grima (16 runs), Mike Caruana (20 runs) and Tony Azzopardi (six runs).

Sarfraz Ali managed seven runs while Marilyn managed to play out four balls before being bowled. Kevin Krishna, Sam Dhandapani and Chris Naudi all took a wicket each and bowled the Marsa team out for 92 runs.

Krishna earned nine points for the win while Marsa earned one. Marsa still head the table with 17 points with three games, Krishna ten points with two games and Melita have yet to open their account.

Next Saturday Krishna C.C play Melita C.C at 1pm. In the morning the academy will be from 9.30am till 11.30 am.
