Labour Party pressure pushed the government into admitting that Maltese consumers are not protected as much as they should be, the MLP’s spokesman for social solidarity, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, said yesterday.

Election fears were now forcing the government to create a structure to protect consumers through the transformation of the National Euro Changeover Committee, into an agency that deals with consumer issues. The new role of the NECC is still to be explained properly, she said.
