A group of 18 volunteers from the USS Ponce, which spent a few days in the Grand Harbour, on Monday gave a helping hand to an embellishment project at Kennedy Grove in Salina, spending a good part of the day painting and landscaping the area, with the guidance of Oliver Lautier, projects coordinator, architect Charmaine Fenech and William Sperandeo, senior technical officer, from the Rural Affairs and the Environment Ministry.
The Kennedy Grove is one of the areas earmarked by the ministry for extensive embellishment and refurbishment. The US Embassy said it was very proud that US servicemen and women were given the opportunity to assist the ministry in this project.
US Charge’ d’Affaires Jason Davis visited the volunteers while they were hard at work, and thanked them for their contribution to Maltese society during their short stay on the Island.
