The onset of Parkinson’s disease progressively affects movements such as walking, talking, and writing and affects both the sufferer and the persons who are caring for him/her. Dr Peter Ferry will deliver a lecture to the general public on “Parkonsonism – Caring for People Who Have It”, at the Caritas Malta premises 5, Lion Street, Floriana on Saturday January 19 at 9am. Apart from giving general information about this condition, and advice to carers, this lecture will itself be an introduction to a discussion on the possibility of setting up a support group which will be facilitated by Dr Damian Spiteri, who is a social worker at Caritas Malta and manages different support groups within the organisation.
The public, particularly persons who are affected by Parkinsonism and those caring for them, are encouraged to attend. Further information may be obtained from Caritas Malta on 2590-6600 or 2123-3933.
