60-second Interview - Sandrina England

Sandrina England studied at St Martin’s College of Art in London. She trained as an iconographer in France and has since then practiced this art form as well as conducted teaching sessions. Sandrina has exhibited her icons in Paris. She was also deeply involved in fashion design and has had various fashion shows the first of which was held in Malta in aid of the Pestalozzi Village.

The recent inauguration of Angeli Gallery at 53, Tigné High Point, Tigné Street, Sliema took place in December.

Sandrina England was influenced by Marc Chagall’s angels and by François Boucher.

The art gallery includes selective items of her fashion wear and jewellery.

The exhibition runs until 16 February.

Angeli Gallery will be open on a daily basis between 5.30 and 7pm. Saturday mornings between 10am and 12.30pm or by appointment.

How old are you? Star sign and date of birth?

Not old. My star sign is Aries.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Designing, travelling and passing on experience to the young.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Heaven, and the dream of perfection. Unreachable but still my goal.

What is your favourite occupation?

The making of beautiful things. Fulfilling reveries on canvas.

What is your greatest fear?

Judgement Day.

What is it that you most value in your friends?

Honesty and sincerity, together with a listening heart.

How would you like to die?

In the arms of an angel or friend.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Not listening to my soul, therefore losing opportunities.

What is your greatest regret?

Not listening to my inner most voice at times when I knew I should have.

What is your most treasured possession?

An icon I painted under special inspiration, which has since then granted gifts.

Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

I would have loved to develop my talent as a singer.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Violence and people who wear masks and the violation of human rights.

Where would you like to live?

India, Paris, London or Chicago or by a waterfall.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Hopefully my generosity.

Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

Darlene Zsech (singer for God), the late pope and Mother

Theresa.

What is it that you most dislike?

Pollution.

What is your motto?

What you sow you reap!
