A proposed ship container terminal in Orkney was designated last week as vital to Scotland’s development over the next two decades.

The project was named among nine “national developments” the Scottish government wants to promote as part of its blueprint to support sustainable economic growth. The Scapa Flow container hub would enable Scotland to play a pivotal role in global shipping. The Hili Company of Malta has reportedly expressed an interest in developing the site at Lyness, on the island of Hoy.
