Speaking on Malta’s adoption of the euro as the national currency on 1 January, Peter Perotti, general manager of Valletta Fund Management Limited welcomed the euro and stated: “Valletta Fund Management Limited has been very active in its strategy to be a leading provider in Malta of a comprehensive range of euro denominated funds. Over the past years, we have introduced various products that invest across all asset classes to include money market, bonds, equity, property and absolute return funds. The company is well placed to offer a number of investment solutions to those investors wishing to tap the local market.”

Valletta Fund Management’s range of Malta Funds that invest in the local market were converted to euro on 1 January.

These Funds include the La Valette Malta Fund, La Valette Malta Bond Fund, La Valette Monthly Income Fund, La Valette Maltese Lira Money Fund now renamed to La Valette Euro Malta Money Fund, Vilhena Malta Fund, Vilhena Malta Government Bond Fund and Wignacourt Malta Fund. Meanwhile, the investment objective of these has not been changed. The Vilhena Diversified Multi-Manager Income Fund and the Maltese lira class of the Vilhena Global Themed Fund were also converted into euro on 1 January.

Valletta Fund Management Ltd’s range of euro denominated funds now consists of 17 investment solutions that invest in different asset classes, across different markets and which have different risk profiles to meet the investment requirements of all types of investors.

All Valletta Fund Management Limited euro denominated funds are managed by Insight Investment Management (Global) Limited, the asset management arm of the Halifax Bank of Scotland, one of the top UK Banking Groups and a FTSE 100 company. Insight Investment, which is one of the UK’s largest asset managers, had as at 30 September 2007, £106 billion in assets under management.
