The Association of Lyceum Past Students (Ghaqda Ex-Studenti Liceo – ALPS) this year will be holding its annual Foundation Day Concert a few weeks earlier than usual. It will be a concert version of Emerich Kalman’s popular operetta La Principessa della Czarda.
For the first time ever the concert will feature The ALPS Choir, a chorus made up of ALPS members and friends. Over the past several weeks they have assiduously attended rehearsals with Joe Fenech and pianist Yolanda Micallef.
The ALPS Foundation Day Concert will be held at the Salesian Theatre in Sliema on Saturday 19 January 2008, at 7.30pm. All proceeds will go to the Salesian Youth Centre, in keeping with the charitable and philanthropic statutory aims of the Association of Lyceum Past Students.
There will be free parking facilities at St Patrick’s Grounds nearby.
Director Joe Fenech has roped together a group of outstanding soloists, including Karen Camilleri, Claire Caruana, evergreen Terry L. Bencini, Bernard Busuttil and Joe Huber, with Cynthia Genovese at the pianoforte. The show, which is being put up with the cooperation of Atturi Salesjani, will be compèred by Rina Camilleri and Joe Camilleri.
Tickets at e6.99 (Lm3) are available from the Salesian Theatre, Sliema (Tel. 99491024), Studiomoda, San Gwann (Tel. 21386812) and Joe Fenech himself (Tel. 21410632).
