AN Proposes laws to safeguard property

Malta Independent Monday, 14 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Azzjoni Nazzjonali is determined to see that Maltese laws are changed to ensure that the rights of people owning property near construction sites are safeguarded, acting leader Anglu Xuereb said yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Xuereb said that a document published by the Building Industry Consultative Council in October 2004 was put aside by the authorities.

AN put forward a number of proposals, including that the developer and the architect involved should carry all the responsibility during the carrying out of the project. The law should also oblige the developer to build what is known as a party wall to separate the development zone from other buildings.
