The Nadur Carnival, described as a parody of real life, is being held this year over nine days, from 25 January to 5 February. Activities will include three days of rock concerts under the tent in St Peter and St Paul Square.

On 1 February there will be a concert by the British group The Yardbirds, supported by the Cash and Band band. On 2 February it will be the Swiss group Krokus, with the Fire supporting band, and on 3 February the performance will be by the international rock group Coal.

The Nadur Carnival, more physical, spontaneous and personal, and less informal than Malta’s, is a tradition which has been kept alive and expanded into a major attraction. Activities also include the Carnival Queen and Miss Nadur Carnival contests, a Carnival ball under the tent, and a children’s carnival.

Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech, yesterday praised its sense of humour, and commended the local council which has worked hard to promote it and give it an international bent.
